I originally wanted to include today´s blog post into my most asked readers questions from last week. But while answering your questions about Hermès belts in general, I thought I could make a whole new and more detailed article about this and here we are.

Hermès offers a very wide range of belts and possible leather/colour combinations. But right now I would only like to get deeper into the “mix and match” belts which consist of one buckle and one piece of leather. It is not possible to buy the buckle alone as one buckle is always sold with one piece of leather; however, if you own one buckle/belt-kit, you can always buy other leathers to combine these two. Each piece of leather is made of two different materials and colours and is reversible. The most popular among Hermès belts is the commonly known “H”-buckle-belt which is actually called “Constance” belt (just like the “Constance”-handbag which has an “H” clasp). The “Constance”-belt is available in three different sizes: 42 mm, 32 mm and 24 mm. The biggest version, 42 mm, is mostly worn by men and too big and prominent for women. The middle size (shown below in silver) is very popular among both genders – however, I still find it very big and sometimes regret buying it. My favorite size is the smallest model (24mm) which is intended to be worn on the waist, but I combined it with a longer length leather and find this to be the most chic and versatile size (for those who are more into understatement).

Besides my two “Constance”-belts, I also own one called “Collier de Chien” (size 24 mm). Inspired by an actual dog chain collar, this model has become a real classic and very popular. To be honest, it is also my favorite among all my belts and I wear it at least once a week.
